California contractor license classifications
Five classes have a page here. CSLB publishes the full list. A class is indexed only when people search for it and the result is not already an AI overview of exam prep. This is not a course catalog.
- C-10 — Electrical contractor
A C-10 contractor does the electrical work on a building or a site: the wiring, the panels, the fixtures, and the equipment that carries or uses electrical power. That includes battery storage and solar when the work is part of the electrical system. The sentence that controls the class is the board's regulation, and the board can change it. Read that page before you decide a job is inside or outside the license.
- C-61 — Limited specialty
A C-61 license is a narrow trade that does not have its own numbered class. CSLB lists the specialties under this license. This page is not one of those sub-trades. Read the board's classification before you treat a job as inside this license.
- C-7 — Low voltage systems
Communication, signal, and other systems the board places in the low-voltage class. Read the official description before you treat a job as in or out. The sentence that controls the class is the board's regulation, and the board can change it.
- C-47 — General manufactured housing
Installing, altering, repairing, or preparing to move a manufactured home, mobilehome, or multifamily manufactured home, including the foundation. On a single-family site, the class also covers connecting gas, water, sewer, and electrical utilities to the home. The sentence that controls the class is the board's regulation, and the board can change it.
- C-36 — Plumbing
The plumbing specialty as CSLB defines it. Read the official description before you decide a job is inside or outside the license. The sentence that controls the class is the board's regulation, and the board can change it.
The official list, including every class we do not publish, is on the CSLB licensing classifications page. CSLB licensing classifications. California contractor license lookup.
